Compare the offered service, not the brand
A proxy may offer a particular FedEx or DHL contract rather than the same retail product you see online. Ask for the actual service name, final price, address coverage and excluded charges. Neither brand is automatically the cheaper choice across all proxies.
Worked decision
If one hypothetical quote is ¥5,000 including a required surcharge and another is ¥4,700 plus ¥600 for that surcharge, the first is ¥300 cheaper. Use the same packed parcel and included services.
Before paying for delivery
- Check actual and dimensional weight.
- Identify who pays import collection and clearance charges.
- Keep the promised service level and claim conditions with the invoice.
Use the estimate to decide what to verify next
Start with the actual listing price, marketplace and destination. Add the known seller delivery charge and compare a local offer with equivalent condition and accessories. Replace packing assumptions with warehouse measurements when available. If a cost is excluded, the remaining budget is not guaranteed savings; use it to decide whether a quote or further condition evidence is worth obtaining.
